OUR CAPTAIN AND CREW
Captain Eph, and his First Mate Laura, have extensive and far reaching boating experience along the Florida coast; up and down the Florida Keys; and throughout the Bahamas. They have over 80 crossings of the Gulf Stream.
In the fall of 2008, Captain Eph and First Mate Laura brought their first open water boat, Perfectly Difficult, from Kentucky Lake to the Florida Keys. Over the next six years, with Captain Eph at the helm, Perfectly Difficult traveled up and down the Florida coast and throughout the Florida Keys; to Bimini; across Lake Okeechobee to Captiva and Naples; and from Delray Beach to Annapolis.
Sensus Vitae was purchased in 2014. Captain Eph and First Mate Laura extended their travels on this vessel throughout the Bahamas, frequenting Bimini, West End, Port Lucaya, Green Turtle Cay, Great Guana Cay, Elbow Cay, Schooner Bay, Harbour Island and the Berry Islands. Captain Eph, along with his two brothers-in-law and two friends, piloted Sensus Vitae to Cuba in 2016, staying in Varadero and Marina Hemingway, Havana. Sensus Vitae continued to travel throughout the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and the Florida coast from 2014 until her sale in February 2021.
In May 2021, Captain Eph and First Mate Laura purchased Sensus Vitae, II, and have continued their adventurous cruising throughout the Abacos, West End, Bimini, Harbour Island, the Berry Islands, and Chub Cay, along with frequenting the Florida Keys. Captain Eph, in addition to his keen knowledge of the South Florida ICW and coast, has expanded his exploring of the Florida waterways with travels to Palm Beach, Jupiter, Stuart, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Coco Village, and Saint Augustine. Captain Eph and First Mate Laura count many Bahamians as life long friends from their travels to the Bahamian Islands.
After Captain Eph’s graduation from Great Lakes Charter Training in January 2022 with a Master 100 Ton License, he received his United States Coast Guard 50 Ton License, which has allowed Captain Eph to organize SVIICharters, LLC, from his second home in Delray Beach, which he shares with his wife, First Mate Laura.
